Hi,

I’m really struggling with using a multi selection listbox that submit multiple choices to a sharepoint list.

 

I need my users to select their choices from the multi selection listbox that then submits the choices into the sharepoint list.

Form background use: Firstly the users select a category from a (type) drop down menu on the first page and clicks a search button (query) the results are displayed below I then have a second page were the users are able to add details to a selected category (using the same type dropdown category thats on the first page) then a submit button the entry goes to the selected category- the problem is that the users need to select more than one category at a time that then submits to all categories that were selected.

Hi there,

Is your form a SharePoint list form?  If so, then all you need to do is add a multiple selection list box control to your form and then publish it back to SharePoint.  The MSLB control should work and a new column will be created in SharePoint.

What exactly is the issue you are running into?  How is the MSLB not working for you?

 I want the MSLB choices made to populate each of the (choices) category with the data entered but it will only tick the box and nothing more.....

 not quite.. I require when checkboxes are ticked what ever is ticked goes into the (type) list.

 

i have sent you a email message with the user name and password to my sharepoint site

You just need multiple selection list box control and a dropdown.  Here's the basic idea:

• Insert an MSLB control and a dropdown
• Go to the properties of the dropdown controls (right click control -> properties)
• Select Get Choices from Fields in this form and select the field bound to the MSLB as your entries field.
• OK out of the dialog

This should populate the dropdown with the choices that you select in the MSLB.

Do the selections need to submit to a separate list per category or does it just need to save all the values to a single column in one list?  If its the latter, you just need to publish the form to a SharePoint list and the field should map to a choice (multi) field.  Just make sure that you start off with a SP list form and then you should be ok.
