    Okay, so in the 3rd dropdown in that screenshot - Acc. NO - is that from your Suppliers data source? What is the field in your main data source that is bound to the dropdown where the Supplier is selected? In the 3rd dropdown in your screenshot, select a field or group, navigate to your main data source, and select the main data source field that is bound to the dropdown.

    If you attach your template to a reply, I'm happy to simply put this in place for you.

    On your form, you have a drop down control, correct? The user selects a supplier from it.

    This control is bound to a main data source field.

    If you right click the control, and select the control's properties, the main data source field's name should show in the control properties.

    In the third dropdown in the screen shot you display, do you see where you have currently selected the Acct NO field?

    Instead, you need to select your main data source field that is bound to the drop down where your users select a Supplier. I'm sorry, I just don't know how else to explain this.

    The XPath for the default looks like this:

    xdXDocument:GetDOM("Suppliers")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Column7[../d:Title = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/my:SharePointListItem_RW/my:Supplyer]

    See attached template.

    You have to save the file locally then right click the saved XSN and select Design to open in IP Designer.

    Well, I did what I could without being able to actually preview or test in your environment. You've got a drop down on that account number (so of course the user can select another one). I've got no way of knowing what your secondary data actually looks like - Your drop down for "Supplyer" uses the ID for the value - perhaps the other data connection uses the display name instead of the ID?

    HI

    I have just about got it working, the problem seemed to be i had not created a secondary data connection. now that i have it is near completions but the selections of accounts are shown blank.

    I know you have been very helpful and this may feel like teaching a kid but if you dont mind it would help a lot.

    Everyone has been new at this at one time or another.

    Here's what I did.

    In your form, the main data source "Supplyer" field is using a drop down on the form for the control. You've set that drop down to use the ID from the Suppliers data source for its value.

    So, for the Account No. field in your main data source, I set a default value (right click on the field in the Fields pane and look in the properties). The default is the ACCT NO. ("Column7") from the same Suppliers data source. I added a filter - where the ID = the main data source Supplyer field.

    I added the same filter for the drop down entries for the Account No. field - and used the same Suppliers data source.
