Do you have the error node from qRules on your form canvas? Did the repeating items submit correctly, but just the higher level data is missing? Can you attach the entire template?

No errors...the higher fields are not submitting but the repeating data is.

You need to update the mapping file in your form with the new one. The mapping in this form is the old one w/out the parent fields. Just walk through the mapping data connection again, and use the new mapping file for the data source.

Hallelujah!!!!  Oh my gosh it worked...I am sorry I was updating the form everytime with the new mapping file; not sure why it didn't take.... things that make you go hmmmm.

I will be taking this to the powers that be so that we can order it.  Thank you soooo much for your help.  BTW I am an InfoPath Enduser Trainer and will be recommending your product to many.  You're my HERO!!

I'm so glad it is up and running for you. I tend to actually work from the form source files a lot - so I just manually change my mapping and move on.

If you ever wonder if the issue is the mapping, you can export it under the Resource Files (data tab in IP 2010, Tools menu for IP 2007) and then open it in a text editor and take a look at it.

    Hilary,

Hi again!!  I have another issue not with qrules and was just wondering with your vast experience with InfoPath if you knew of a solution. If you know of a forum that would be a good place to submit this issue for help please suggest! The issue is as follows:  Now that the individual repeating table items are placed in a custom list I need them back as an InfoPath form. I created a workflow that actually does this by creating an item in another library and populating the .xml template I created.  It works fantastic...until an item within the custom list changes...then the workflow rewrites the form and leaves everything blank.  So I am thinking in this instance the Create Item workflow action is incorrect to use for updates. I have tried the Update Item action however the ID's must be different between the Library and the custom list as I receive a workflow error: List Item not Found.

    Thanks so much!

Well - I would expect the IDs to be different between the list and library - each list (a library is a type of a list) in SharePoint will have unique IDs for that list, starting at 1 and autoincrementing by 1 from there. These IDs never get re-used, so if you delete item ID of 2 from a list, you'll never have another one in that list.

    I don't understand this:

then the workflow rewrites the form and leaves everything blank.

The workflow is creating and submitting the XML? Why is it sometimes succeeding and sometimes not? If you look at the XML (open it in a text editor), you can see the nodes do not have values?

Can the end user open and edit these forms that are being created by the workflow? I ask because I'm curious about how you intend to handle a scenario where a user edits the XML that the workflow is creating and another user changes the list item that is supposed to update this XML....
