    qrules form installation error

I am on the Trial version of qrules and when I try to install forms I recieve an error message:

An error occured while attempting to register the form:

The following form template cannot be register:C:\Program Files(x86)\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library (Trial Version)\forms\qrulesForm.xsn  Access is denied

    Any ideas?

    Hi, Christy:

In the qRules user guide, you'll find instructions for running the install from the command line as admin - did you try that yet? Looks like that is on pages 3 & 4.

Yes thank you that worked; I was successful in following your blog example and was able to get that to work.  What I don't understand is how to tie the individual records that were within the repeating table with the parent.  Meaning in SharePoint how do I know which InfoPath Form the repeating table records belong to?

I am considering purchasing this for my organization however I am unsure that it will do what I need it to; We have SharePoint 2007 Server.  My requirements are that an individual fills out a form in a SharePoint form library.  The form has multiple individual fields as well as a repeating table. Once that form is submitted.  Each item in the repeating table needs to broken out individually in another list on SharePoint it will need to include the multiple individual fields that the user filled out before the repeating table.  So from a single form submitted--we need individual records of what is in the repeating table as well as other data that was filled out in other parts fo the form.

    Clear as Mud? :-)

Can qrules do this? Since it is breaking out the individual repeating table items, Is there more that I need to research to get the other form fields to be included?

     Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

    THANK YOU!

You can definitely add items from outside the repeating table to your mapping, but you'll need to hand type the relative XPath in the mapping tool.

So, if you have a field called ProjectId, for example, that is higher in your schema, the path may look like: ../../my:ProjectId

It is the relative XPath from the repeating group to the field you wish to map.

If you include a picture of your data source with a reply, I can help you figure those out.

That's good news!  Is there a way to make changes to a previously done mapping or do you have to start again and save over the current mapping xml file?  I definitly will welcome your help with the XPath!  I won't be back at working on this issue until end of this week.  THANK YOU!

Sadly, you'd need to start again with a new mapping - we can manually add to the existing mapping if you know the internal names of your SharePoint list columns, but most people have a little trouble figuring those out (especially if your column names have spaces or special characters). It may be simplest to just recreate the mapping.

    Hiliary,

OK I am back at it.  If you wouldn't mind explaining where to put the relative XPath in the mapping tool I think I'll be able to do it.  If I get the XPath of the fields I need from the Data Fields drop down in InfoPath ie. /my:myFields/my:Franchise do I just add it as another row in the mapping tool? I took a picture of my data source but I don't understand how to paste it in here or use the insert/edit image button.  Sorry :-(

The Repeating Table X-path is the following:  /my:myFields/my:RepeatingTable/my:RepeatTableFields

At couple of the fields (there are many) that I would need to include with each repeating record is:

    /my:myFields/my:Franchise

    /my:myFields/my:Client

    Thanks so much!

You can add files under the Options tab - if your file is a picture, it will display in the post.

So, you add this as another row in the mapping tool. The XPath needs to be relative to the RepeatTableFields node.

    Your XPath then would be:

    ../../my:Franchise
    ../../my:Client

You'll hand enter those in the form field column and then select the SharePoint column you want to map them to in the other column.

Thank you so much for your help!  I tried to do the mapping of the extra columns with the Expense Template as a test.  I re-did the mapping; it is attached.  It didn't work for me though.  The repeating table items went to the SharePoint list but the other items did not. I must have done something wrong :-(

    Re: qrules form installation error

Well, in this mapping, you didn't select a repeating table. In this example, you would not use a relative path, since you didn't use the repeating table feature. When I look at your mapping, I see that IsRepeating is set to false, and that there is no repeating group specified. I'm going to assume that with this mapping, no matter how many items you have in your expense report, only the first one will submit... If you are going to submit repeating data and use relative XPath (relative to the repeating group) to get fields that are not inside the repeating group, you need to indicate this in your mapping.

Complete oversight sorry!  I re-did the mapping and made sure to choose the repeating checkbox.  The new mapping schema is attached.  It still did not take the three extra fields Name, Department, Job Title and copy them over to the list.  This is a fantastic tool and it solves a direct problem for my organization when we get it to work!  Thanks...

Can you attach a screenshot of the data source for this form to the Options tab?

    Thanks!

It's attached.  I am using the Expense Template from InfoPath 2007 that  you used in your blog directions.  Thanks!

    Re: qrules form installation error

Okay, so when I gave you those initial relative paths, they were based on the form schema you pasted in XPaths for.

This form schema is different, and the relative paths are different.

Is employee a child of expense report? If so, the name would be

    ../../my:employee/my:name

You can modify these directly in the mapping file if you wish. I'm attaching an updated mapping that should have the correct XPaths for these fields.

That being said, one way you can figure out the relative paths is to act like you are going to add a rule to the repeating group in InfoPath. For the condition, select the higher level field you need the relative path to. Then, change the first box to "the expression" and InfoPath will show the relative path in the text field next to the first drop down.

    Re: qrules form installation error

Thank you for that fantastic tip to find the relative paths!  Attached is the mapping file again.  I first tried by just modifying it following what you sent back.  It didn't work :-(   then I used the mapping form to give it a try in case I made an error when typing but it didn't work either...I'm completely stumped!
