Network Connection Unavailable on Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials

    Please help me... again...

I use Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials as my operating system, and am running SQL Server 2008 R2 and InfoPath 2007 on it.

With the help of Qdabra, I successfully created a form that reads from lookup tables in the SQL Database, and writes into a transactional table in the SQL database.

On Windows 7, the form works perfect, but on Windows SBS 2011, every time I open the form, I get the following error:
    Network Connection Unavailable
One or more data sources that are required to open this form are not available, because your computer is not connected to the network.
To try to connect to other data sources, click "Try to Connect". To use previously stored data click "Work Offline".

There buttons you can click are "Work Offline" or "Try to Connect".

When I click on "Try To Connect", my form opens and I can use it successfully. The error is strange, as I am not trying to connect through the network.

In the form, under File->Work Offline, is not selected.

    Thanks

Hi - I've not use SBS 2011, but here are a few questions that may help you troubleshoot -

Are you signedd into server with the same credentials as your Windows 7 machine?
What happens if you try to design a form using the same data source on the SBS machine?
What is the published location of the form that you are opening it from?

What type of network connections is the SBS server configured to use?  And is the SBS server hosting DNS and DHCP?

    Hi Hilary

I am not signed into Windows 7 at all. I am signed in as the Administrator on SBS.

I already use a data sourse on the SBS machine.

I'm not sure where it is published, but it is saved to the desktop.

    Hope that helps.

I did not set up any of those. I just did a standard SBS installaion, but I will look into it on Monday.

By the way – you’d said the form works on Windows 7 – how could you not be signed in? I mean, you log onto the machine with a particular username, right?

I replicated the database and form on Windows 7, for my support call with James.

I did not have that issue on my Windows 7 laptop.

I do have the issue on the SBS, but the are not connected at all.

    Hi Jim

    Thanks for your help.

The SBS was not configured to be a DNS or DHCP Server. I just did a standard SBS Essentials installation, and can't remember that there were any settings like that in the installation.

    I solved the problem.

I went to Tools->Options->Form Options->Offline, and unticked "Store data returned from quaries so it can be used in offline mode".
