I want to publish a mutli-line text box into Sharepoint but I need to be able to make it editable through sharepoint.
EDIT: I should mention that the reason I want the mutli-line text box is so I can remove the character limit.
I tried a Rich Text Field but it would not allow me to make that editable. So I tried a normal text field but when I published that it limited the characters to 255 which is not sufficient.
What I did next was go into the site columns gallery and modified the column to be "Multi-line" and removed the character limit which worked fine. Problem is now if I try to publish the form again it tells me the column data type doesn't match the current one so it needs to be removed or modified. I used SP Manager to change the column data type back from "Note" to "Text" and that allowed me to publish again with no issues, but then after the publish is done I need to modify it back to be multi line so I can remove the character limit.
After all that it did work fine but what I want to know is is my solution ridiculous? Is there a simpler way? Does anyone have any suggestions?
