Re: Dynamic text and page breaks for Printing

    Has anyone resolved this problem?

I have a simular problem in that my printed document must have specific legal text in the footer of each page.
I could minimise my margins and add a field to contain the required text however as InfoPath doesnt seem to "pageanate" in any way there no certain way to ensure that I know of that ensures this text appears at the foot of each page.
What seems to be required is an ability to insert a field within the page Footer.
    any ideas anyone?

The techniques described in the HowTo posted above are the most advanced printing strategies that I have ever heard of for InfoPath 2003. Unfortunately, we cannot add fields into the actual header/footer of a page, so we are forced to "fake" it as the HowTo describes. You are correct in thinking that there is not certain way to ensure that text appears at the bottom of a page.

Re: Dynamic text and page breaks for Printing

I've been using the the HowTo method to split a repeating table over multiple pages but I always end up with an extra empty page as page no 1. If I instead position the page break below the repeating table I get an extra empty page at the end. Even when I make the section as small as half the height of a page (in print preview) I will get an extra empty page.

Also, when the form is printed to PDF (using Adobe Acrobat), which is necessary in this case, I get another two extra empty pages!

    What am I'm doing wrong?

My form looks like this (From top to bottom): Header, repeating table, footer and page break. Everyting in a repeating section. There is no extra spaces over, under or in between. The top- and bottom margins are unchanged (default).

Hi Matt, This is very interesting, and I thought I'd give your idea a whirl. I've set my top page margin to .4 inserted some text at the top of the page then a page break.

All I get is a blank first page (a consiquence of the page break) then the header text on the next real page. I see no difference in using a repeating section. Any idea on what I'm missing?

I have posted an example of how to do repeating headers across pages in a codeless way in here: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/post/21817.aspx

    Coita Thierry:
    Hi,

I want to give another way to make your word print view!

In my opinion I think is easiest to wright a wordML transformation file! It's a simple xsl but with the power of word (prefix of namespace for wordML is w:)

It's very easy to use you have a good reference schema that describe you all the things that you can made with wordML (100% compatible with normal word)!

If you don't find what you want in this, you can make what you wan't in word save as xml and see how word has made to make the process that you need! For example the problem of this topic can be with wordml very easy to solve!

And the only things that you have to code in infopath is the xsl transformation! I think that can be more quick to do as the code that you use!

You don't have word 2003. Microsoft provide you a free wordML Viewer!

Me I have do like this for make my print view it goes very well!

This mail is only for give some other work around to create a print view!

    Hi Thierry,

Do you have a specific article that you can possibly point me to?  I'm fairly new to xml, xsl and wordML but am trying to establish static footers for printing (footers with controls nonetheless).

     Any guidance is appreciated.

     Thanks in advance.

It's been almost 10 years since this post, is there a better solution to print headers and footers in a web browser enabled IP form?

    Thanks!
