    How do I get rid of open message?

    Hi

    I am using an infopath xsn and dbxl form.  The user creates the xml form and submits to sql via dbxl.  (We do not use IPFS)

    In Sharepoint I have created a dataview of the sql data.  One of the line items in the data view is a hyperlink to open the xml form for editing.  This all works brilliantly.  But each time I open the forms I get the attached popup , which I would love to get rid of.  Is there any way of doing it ?

     The hyperlink that I am using is http://......../QdabraWebService/Documents/xx/xx.xml where xx changes with the document id.

    Hi Catharine,

    This has been documented somewhere and I'm sorry if you tried to search for it and couldn't find it.

    Basically, what you need to do is to use a command of the form: "BLOCKED SCRIPT OpenXMLDocument('http://.../QdabraWebService/Documents/xx/xx.xml') ".

    Back in 2007, Shiraz blogged this with more details here: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/shiraz/archive/2007/08/16/best-way-to-launch-forms-from-web-pages.aspx

    Hope that helps!

    I did do a search - obviously not the correct key words.

    Even now - I have read the blog and I am afraid I don't really get it - would never have guessed that this is the solution to my problem.

    I have tried going to http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/examples/entry41177.aspx  to look at the examples, when I click download - all that happens is a webpage opens with 3 links on it.  What am I doing wrong ?

    Ok - I have now clicked download - and saved the webpage to my PC and opened it with vb.  So I can see the example.

    I am really feeling my way in SharePoint designer....

    I have no idea what to put where to get it working.

    The line of code I can see for the current hyperlink is

       <a href="{@Link}"><xsl:value-of select="@RefID" /></a></td><td class="ms-vb" style="width: 150px">
    Where @Link is the text for the hyperlink.

    Guess I'll have to leave the prompt in place - bummer

    Hi again,

    Well, it's not hard to add a button that calls OpenXMLDocument, but maybe we should do a better job of elucidating Shiraz's blog. OK, we'll do that. In the meantime, send us email and we'll call you and step you through it.

    Sorry for the opaque blog,

    Attached is a file with some JavaScript in it.  You can rename the extension to .js, place it on your website, and reference it from your pages with

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://path/to/file/InfoPathOpen.js"></script>

    You can also place the script directly in your page, surrounded with <script> tags:

    <script type="text/javascript">

    contents of file

    </script>

    Once you have done that, you should change the format of your links to:

    <a href="javascript: OpenXMLDocument('{@Link}')"><xsl:value-of select="@RefID" /></a>

    the following should also work, and has the benefit that users' browsers would only show the URL of the form instead of the part with the JavaScript in it:

    <a href="{@Link}" onclick="OpenXMLDocument('{@Link}'); return false;"><xsl:value-of select="@RefID" /></a>

    Hi Catharine,

    Thank you for your patience. We were finally able to get it to work.

    Can you follow the steps in this blog and let us know if that works for you?
