    Submit to SharePoint List questions

Hi all, I just purchased the QRules and SubmitToSharePointList in order to be able to finish some forms that involve sending data from repeating tables to a SharePoint list. I tested it with the tutorial and a basic example and it worked great. My questions are: 1. Can I combine data from the repeating table and data outside the repeating table in the same form? 2. Can I submit data from more than one repeating table in the same form? 3. Can I use it with repeating sections? 4. How can I edit the form after you have submitted actual data, like adding other fields? Thanks in advance for the help. Gus

Re: Submit to SharePoint List questions

Hi, and thanks for purchasing qRules!

    1. You would need to copy your data outside the repeating table INTO a field inside the repeating group. You wouldn't have to show the field on the form, of course, and you can use a default value on the field so that all of the instances have the value from the non-repeating field.

    2. You can submit data from more than one repeating table in the same form. But you'll need to set up a mapping file and a SharePoint list submit connection for your repeating group, just like you did for the first one.

    3. A repeating section is like a repeating table, at least if you ask the form's data structure! Both bound to repeating groups which usually have one or more non repeating fields in them. So, yes, you can use use either a table or a group on your form.

    4. I don't understand this question, I'm afraid. Do you mean modifying your template so the repeating group contains more fields? If you want those to also submit to your SharePoint list, you'll need to update your mapping.xml file to include the form fields and the list fields.

Hope that helps, post back if you need more information!

    Hilary,

Can you explain #1 further.  I'm not sure I understand.   I have a repeating group and other fields I would like to write to a sharepoint list.   The repeating group looks like this:

    • myfields
      • group1 (Group)
        • group2 (Repeating)
          • repeating field1
          • repeating field2
          • repeating field3
      • field A
      • field B
      • field C

Are you suggesting that you should add fields to "group1 and then copy the repeating field data there?

    Thanks for you help,

     Ann

Re: Submit to SharePoint List questions

    Hi!

qRules SubmitToSharePointList currently requires all fields being submitted to the list be in the same group. So, if you wish to also submit field A, B or C with the fields inside group2, you need to add fields to group2 that have as their default values field A, B, or C. You can add the fields as a reference (there's an explanation of how to do that toward the end of the qRules user guide, though it is in the context of the SaveToSharePoint or SaveToDbxl command) so that they have the same name. You don't need to display the fields you added to group2 on your form.

That makes more sense.  I'll try that.  Thank you for the help.
