    Workflow Queue

I'm looking for a method wherein an Infopath form (attached to a workflow-enabled Sharepoint Form Library) can be utilized to 'queue' requests to be presented to users for completion.  Basically, I need the users to access something that presents the next available items for completion.  Upon submitting the request as completed, I'd like the next available item to pop-up.  I cannot locate any information regarding how to do this or if it is even possible.

The only work-around to this I have been able to determine is to use a 'View' of the form library that only displays unassigned, new items but this is not my preferred method as it requires a refresh of the view prior to the user selecting the next item to ensure the next item has not been presented to another user.

     Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

How about using a Content Query web part that only displays active items? You can sort by items that are not marked as complete and display them anywhere in the site collection. You an also target them to a particular group using audiences or configure the Content Query Web part to see only their own.  If you have Kerberos authentication set up on your network, you can have internal RSS feeds that will display the contents of a list item. Those are the only out-of-the-box solutions I can think of. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, a Content Query Web Part is not an activated option in the version of SharePoint that I am utilizing..

Thus far, my solution has been to utilize Web Services which provides me with the 'next-up' based on the 'box' (workflow style) that the current user is 'assigned to'.  The only draw-back that I've been able to identify is that when the user opens the next request, they must click a button to 'Assign' the item to their ID.  Ideally, I'd have liked this process to happen automatically, but after much frustration, I have not been able to get around the post-back problem (can't submit back to the same request as you are opening).

Everything else is working GREAT; well, almost...if only SharePoint had the functionality to understand Now() or ANY current time/date formulas; but that is another subject!
