A script is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly...

    Hi there,

First time I post a problem on this forum! Normally a search through the posts here will do, but today my luck has run out...

I have an Infopath Form, obviously, which uses a webservice to get secondary data. The webservice generates an XML of the data it will get from an SQL-database. When I submit the form, the webservice will retrieve the main datasource and will perform the necessary actions. The form itself doesn't contain any code.

    PROBLEM 1:
When I publish the form to a SharePoint-site and try to open it with Internet Explorer, the browser prompts me about a script that causes the browser to run slowly... Mozilla Firefox on the other hand doesn't complain... I noticed that one of the secondary datasources is quite large. I've a secondary datasource that contains about 1600 postalcodes and cities, but I need all the data in the form. The strange thing about this problem is, although all the data is present in the dropdown, Internet Explorer still keeps complaining about a script that's running! When I abort the script, I can't find any issues caused by aborting the script... So my first question is... Why? Why is IE still running a script? The damn data is already there, stop running the script, piece of sh*t browser! :-)

    PROBLEM 2:
When I submit the form, after a while InfoPath Services gives me an error that some rules were not applied. But again, everything went fine and I only get this error when running the form in a browser from the SharePoint server. Is there a way to run the webservice and close the form without the form keeping to wait for a response of the webservice? Or does anyone know a better solution?

Hopefully all of this makes sense...  Don't hesitate to ask more information!

    Hello Welcome to the Forums,

Problem1: This is related to huge data retrieve from database. If you don't want that script while opening the form then you disable script debugging option in Internet Explorer. For this you have to follow these steps,

Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced

Check the ‘Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)' and ‘Disable script debugging (Other)' checkboxes to avoid script error in your form

Problem2: Can you give more detail on rule which is not applied in your form? InfoPath form will execute the rule after completion of the rule. If you are trying to close the form then previous rules should be completed.

    Hi Shiva,

    Thanks for your reply!

    1) I know it's possible to disable script debugging in Internet Explorer, but that would be avoiding the issue rather than solving it :-) But temporarily I can disable script debugging to avoid this annoying message. By the way, I still can't get my head around the fact that, even when all the data is retrieved, Internet Explorer keeps running a script...

    2) On my form there's a button "Submit". There are three rules attached to the button. The first two rules are submit's to my webservice. The webservice will create a few documents in a SharePoint library and update some user information in the database. I guess these first two rules take too long and InfoPath Services stops processing the rules and returns the error "some rules were not applied". The last rule isn't applied, which is ofcourse closing the form... If I could somehow tell InfoPath Services that it doesn't have to wait for a response from the webservice and proceed to the next rule, then that would solve this problem. The webservice will finish it's job anyway! But I guess that's impossible...

Hi, did you get a solution to this yet?

    If not, try this:

    Open Regedit

    Under KKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > INTERNET EXPLORER

Check to see if you have a KEY called STYLES (if not create one)

Now go into the KEY and Create a DWORD called MaxScriptStatements

Now, if you are using IE 7, set the decimal value of the DWORD to 0

if you are using IE 6 or under, set it to 20000000

that should now have taken care of your issue.
