I wound up writing a web part that implemented the ITransformableFilterValues interface.  Within the web part code, I was able to use a person\group field as the filter.  Then I connected the filter to the other web part that contained the list I wanted to filter.  I don't know why it had to be that complicated, but I never ...

Does anybody know why not?  It seems to be the best way to make forms pretty:(

Did anyone find a solution to this?  I want to filter a list by [Me] but I get the "Filter value is not a valid text string" error.

I just received word (although not 'official' word), that hosting the infopath controls in design mode is not supported.  This confuses me because the sample code referenced earlier looks like it is setup to design (edit) the form.  Oh well.
