Do browser forms not display images?

I edited the view1.xsl source file to reference an image in a picture library on my sharepoint site.  This image serves as a background image for a table in my form.  When I publish and open the form with InfoPath, the image is there.  However when I open my form in the browser, it does not show the image.  I viewed the source code and there is no reference to the image file anywhere.

Unfrotunately, browser forms do not support hand-editing the XSL.
