 BOOM! I tried adding it to the trusted sites and it wouldnt allow me to add a site without https. I then unchecked the box and now I can connect! Thanks for your help. That got me looking in he right direction    

Are you referring to how I view and access the Sharepoint site? It is not in trusted sites or intranet sites. The farm is on a 2008R2 box and I built the farm there and the SP admin console is there.
