I have the same error in 2013. Did you ever resolve this?

I found the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\template\layouts\Qdabra\ (14 instead of 15). I copied them over and all is well. Not sure why that happened.

Yep. I created a dbxl.domain.com to prep for SSL and it made the installation fail because I did not add it to local loopback at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa All good now. Thanks,

You can delete the templates in SharePoint Designer.
