Thanks for the help.  Your tip of putting a textbox on the form and seeing the value submitted was very good. I changed the true/false 1/0 values around and it works in SP and IP 2010.   Happy New Year

I have a series of checkboxes that I want to be checked by default so I'm setting the value like below.  It works fine when I preview the form in InfoPath, but when I publish the form to Sharepoint the default state for the checkboxes are all unchecked. 

Thanks for the help.  I think I want to pursue option 1 and just set the unchecked value to the value of each question but how do I change these to 2 points?  The only options for checkboxes are 1/0 or True/False.
