I have what I believe to be the correct XPath for the above image:
dfs:queryFields/q:tDisc/@Name
I was able to get it using a little trick shown on this blog:
http://egrigg9000.com/mtpub/archives/000064.html
I still get an error in my script, and I'm not sure why:
Object required

To set up the data connection I ran the Data Conenctions Wizard (Tools==>Data Connections==>Add). I defined the submit action to use the data connection I created.
When running the wizard I defined it as ''submit'' and point to a sharepoint site. I entered the URL when prompted and am using a field name for the Filename.

I'd also like these comments to be visible to the next person who see the form, complete the with individuals name and a timestamp showing when the comment was added.

I have very recently used Infopath for the first time. I have developed a staged Form that allows users to request something, then different people in my active directory can add comments and approve. They then send it to the next person who does the same.
Currently I have 6 views, they all show the same information but have different a unique ...

I wanted to do exactly the same as you proposed but this does not work. The bold marked line is the problem. In the debug window both InnerXml properties seem to be the same!? Why can't I set it this way?
System.Xml.XPath.XPathNavigator fieldxpn;
// the new values in the drop down list
String[] newItems = { ''11111'', ''22222222'', ...
