Thank you for all your help, yeah i need to figure out what i need to modify/exclude to fix the load issue. After testing it on sharepoint it works ( slow) if there is only one company listed, any more than that causes it to time out. Thanks for all your help, lll post if i find the solution

Delete and re-add the section w/ your summary - There seems to be something wrong w/ it - I had the same issue trying to preview. The form is horribly slow tho - I'm guessing because of the huge data load. Not sure what to suggest on that.

Well, you could use PowerShell, sure - add the node & set the default value (looks like it has one). Easiest would be to copy the files locally, create an XSLT to update them, use PowerShell to transform & resave, then copy them back into the library.

re: your edit - that's correct. the xml on the file in the screen shot was saved before I had added field. So it will not get it until I open the form, then save it again. Is there a way to achieve this programmatically (powershell, c# workflow, etc) that you know of?

No, the version shouldn't matter, I've used this in Windows 7, Windows 10 and several different versions of Windows Server. In your screenshot, if you open one of those XML, does the promoted field update? EDITED TO ADD: Could it be that this is a new field and the old XML don't have a value?

i tested the attached file and it didnt produced any summary information when i ran the preview. Upon closer inspection i looked at the expression embeded in the file and it is sum(/my:myFields/my:group3/my:group4/my:AMT[../my:COMPANY = current()/my:COSUMMARY]) and not the updated expression you suggested.
