I'm attaching a sample form that should help you. Save locally, right click and select design, then preview to test.

Thanks Hilary, Thanks for that sample you provided, I managed to get it to work to a limited degree. Unfortunately when i converted the Subtotal Amount field to a calculated value, i got an error advising me that the control binding is not supported and allow me to upload it to the sharepoint. I attempted to upload the template but when i try to run it from sharepoint it crashes. It seems to be isolated to this bug. If i remove the summary fields and reupload it without the error it goes back to normal and works

You can manually fix that - it is an InfoPath bug. If you search on the message, you should find my blog post on manually fixing it up. Or you can take a look at the sample here, it uses a field w/ a calculated default: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/examples/entry41116.aspx

PS the template runs very slow with the addition of the calculated fields. Works if there is only 1 company record but if there are 2 or more i get this error The form could not be displayed because default values or rules are taking too long to evaluate. To correct this, simplify the expressions or reduce the size of the data sets that they depend on.

You shouldn't be getting that error unless you have huge amounts of data. I'd assume there is something else wrong. Feel free to attach your template under the Options tab in a reply if you'd like me to take a look tomorrow.

Thanks for looking into this. As i mentioned it work in preview more but fails in sharepoint. I know that part of the issue with the amount of data comes from the default values under group 3 as i had to create 200+ instances of it im wondering if there is a way to adjust the form so it doesnt fail due to the amount of data that might be present as it is variable and can start from 1 to potentially 500 lines of data.

Can you attach a screenshot of the error, or the complete text?

Also - I don't understand the default in COSUMMARY. Please remove that and change your AMTSUMMARY default to: sum(/my:myFields/my:group3/my:group4/my:AMT[../my:COMPANY = current()/../my:COMPANY and current()/../my:COMPANY != ""])

I took your recommendation and deleted the COSUMMARY field and use the expression you provided but got an error message.

i tested the attached file and it didnt produced any summary information when i ran the preview. Upon closer inspection i looked at the expression embeded in the file and it is sum(/my:myFields/my:group3/my:group4/my:AMT[../my:COMPANY = current()/my:COSUMMARY]) and not the updated expression you suggested. I think you send me the original file i provided you

Ok that file had the updated expression, unfortunately when i previewed it, it didnt provide display any results. :( Not sure what im doing wrong. i removed the filers i originally had in the repeating section itself thinking that was the cause and it displayed every instance of the customer name that was saved within group 4 and also blank row for the extra default value fields i had.

Delete and re-add the section w/ your summary - There seems to be something wrong w/ it - I had the same issue trying to preview. The form is horribly slow tho - I'm guessing because of the huge data load. Not sure what to suggest on that.
