I would just put the text and the control into a section and hide the complete section till you have selected something from field y.

Hi there,
I need to email the content of a form in Plain Text as the type of database in the other end doesn't generate new records any other way (I know, stupid database!). I'm a bit allergic to custom code so I hope there's a way to do this without it.

Hi new to infopath and happy for all comments;
A question I have is; I have a field (x) and on top of that is text, but this field (x) complies with conditional formating.
Field (x) is hidden until a selection in field (y) is selected, is there a way of hidding the text on top of field (x) as well?
Thanks.

Single Line - 64

Number & Currency - 32
Hyperlink - 32
Date & Time - 16

As the results will likely be returned as a repeating set of data, then a repeating table or repeating section is the right choice of controls to display the results.

The code I wrote was just a skeleton of your onafterchange event. It was demonstrating the use of a flag to prevent endless loops: i.e. the onafterchange event handler causing another call to the same hanlder, and so on...
You will need to write your own code to do accomplish what you want inside the handler.
