Hi Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately I am having the same problem. Basically when I choose Preview mode and add another item, the details of the previous analysis drop down list are still shown even though I am choosing a different activity. I have added rules as suggested but to no avail. As always, any help would be ...

  • Re: Auto-Populate Rules vs Code

As far as the inconsistency, my guess would be it is not always finding the value, when this occurs there is no warning or error it just will not do anything and have a blank result. Typically what I found is that it is in the string matching, if there are any preceeding or trailing spaces or if one field is a var and the other not ...

  • Re: Secondary Connection to Sql Server Failed on one users workstation....

Hey Kellyan, welcome to the wonderful world of InfoPathdev.com. I have run into this issue before but obviously it could be a lot of things. The first thing I would look into is how you are connecting to the sql server. From her PC can she connect to the database via ODBC? • Auto-Populate Rules vs Code

Hi all, In a repeating section of my form I have a drop down box that lists materials. I use a rule to fill in the associated unit of measure based on the selected material. The rule uses the secondary data source I defined through "data connections". For some reason, the rule does not seem to consistantly fill ...

  • Re: Concat string help

Thanks a ton Clay! It worked great. As you suggested I used this function in conjunction with a Rule that sets the Name field value when specific conditions are met.

Also you will need to reupdate the field name. Paste my text in and then select Insert Field on the first one and select your field. Then you can copy and paste it through out the rest.

  • Re: Concat string help

If you use the Insert Function button and copy and paste it doesn't take that long. And actually doing it inside a form ensured I had it right. Glad to help and I think there are lots of people who are not aware of how to accomplish this. I may create a blog post and use some color to make it a little easier to figure out.

What can I say, but ....Wow! Thanks for this Clay. Just to type it out must have taken a good 5 min :) I'll try it out and let you know how it works out. I had no clue about the Translate function so I defintely upped my knowledge there as well.

  • Re: Concat string help

    This is kind of fun. Here is the formula. concat(translate(substring(Submitter_email, 1, 1), "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz", "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ"), substring-after(substring-before(Submitter_email, "."), substring(Submitter_email, 1, 1)), " ", ...
