I've been following the post and created the connection just fine, but it came to my attention that the webservice doesn't respect the required fields.
Is it possible, without using any programming, to force a field in the caml to be required, and make that show up in the form?
I can do it using programming, I create fields for the ...

Ok thinking some more...
Typically you would build this total as the data was collected not afterwards. So as the user was making their order you would be incrementing the totals for each HWID. Have you looked at this?

Ok
The dropdowns should not matter for this function since we care about the final list of data Order. I am assuming you have displayed this and this is correct, it is just a matter of filtering and calculating it.
I think you would maybe have to use code since you have two data sets and need to loop through each one. ...

Yah your predicament is not uncommon.
To use the default database functionality in InfoPath, to query and submit you have to design the form from scratch around the data connection. There still are limitations , such as only one table structure can be used, that may or may not be a problem down the road.
So one option is to start from the ...

I am new to InfoPath developing, so I hope that someone can help. I have an InfoPath 2007 form that recieves data from a web service for a given patient. I have a web application ( C#, Visual Studio 2005 ) that opens the InfoPath form and I want to pass it the patient number. My code looks like this so ...

Almost. I want to know how many users want the hardware/software rather than how many overall orders there are for them.
I have a list of hardware, software and users uniquely identified. The user then compiles orders where a piece of hardware may be chosen. I want the quantity for that piece of hardware to reflect a sum of the user ...

To All...
Hopefully you can clear up some confusion regarding designing a new Infopath form with a database connection.
It seems if you don't include all your data fields in the beginning, you are out of luck if you need to add something at a later time. (IE secondary data connections). In my case, someone built the form (with no data ...

Ok Ben. I think I understand what you are trying to do here but correct me if I am wrong.
After the orders are made you want to total each type of hardware and software etc.
It has been a while since I did counts like this but I believe you want to count the repeating group my:Order, then put your filter on rather than UID or a child node.
Let ...

You can use a regular text box and have it expand as well. Are you sure you need a Rich Text Box?

Obviously putting form field data is easier in the subject line than in the Introduction since the UI has the button for it. You can concatenate it into other text or fields.
For the Introduction text you would need to use code and concatenate your field with text and then save it into the Introfield directly. I think this would be the only ...
