• unique ID in infopath form.

Hope all is well. I am building my first enterprise InfoPath solution with work flow and MOSS. I have a unique requirement. I am not sure how to do this. Maybe you could help me. When the form first loads we would like to give it a unique ID. The unique ID maybe something like UR2811070001. The last four digits may come from a custom sql table. ...

  • Re: Saving a form to SharePoint

Hi Clay, Thanks for your help. I've never heard of CAML before, so I'll go read up on it. I think for the time being I'm going to change the file naming rule to an incrementing number. Unfortunately my contraint is that I don't have access to a database -- I can only publish to SharePoint. Tom

Actually the best implementation I have seen is to put your contacts in a database and then have one form that can browse the contacts, lookups, search, etc.

Ok I gotcha. You could change your file naming to a numeric and then promote the name fields, etc. This way the file (link) could remain the same and you would see the latest information in the additional columns of the Library. Or you should look at deleting items from a library via a caml. You could add functionality to your form where ...

A new contact is created only if you change the first or last name on an existing contact because of the file naming rule I mentioned before. However, I was hoping InfoPath would be smart enough to know that I'm modifying the existing contact, so if I change a contact from John Doe to Johnny Doe, it should *rename* the contact filename to ...

  • Re: Can I pass a parameter through a data connection?

Currently I am using the InfoPath UI to populate these two dropdowns...I have hardcode parameters into the stored proc I exec in the 'edit sql' of the data connection wizard. Therefore I do not need them to cascade, they are coming from different tables in the DB. After those 2 dropdowns are selected I need to capture that value and pass ...

  • Re: Can a repeating Table have 2 textboxes in 1 column?

When you say separate data from presentation, do you mean trap it somewhere in my code and then map it to the proper fields in my repeating table? How would you do that? I need the repeating table to be able to populate anywhere from 1 to 100 rows of data returned from the DB.

  • Re: Programmatically populate a Drop-Down List Box

Clay, My data connection is working properly because I can use the same stored proc with different parameters to fill textboxes. Everything I am doing is behind in code...I'm using ADO.NET (C#) a sqlDataReader to read in the data. I would use the InfoPath UI to set the values of the dropdown, but I need it to be dynamic as possible, and I ...

What is the name of the new contact file? You may need to look at the document library settings and see if overwrite is enabled.

  • Re: Issue with 3 and 4 character fields vs. 5 position table value

If your normalize space function was working it would work for all scenarios. I thought you were @RELM_NME[concat(txt_RelmNumber, " ") = @RELM_ID] So for thee character nubers yu were adding two spacs to the entry. For two spaces you would add three spaces. You may add a message box to verify it is detecting AAA. Then at least ...
