It works! Thank you so much for finding a solution, Hilary. There's only one new issue now: With the added rule, every time I'm editing an existing record the name field is emptied when the form is loading. I've changed the formulas ...

I think I would add a trigger to my SQL table to create the rows in the billing database table. InfoPath doesn't have a way for you to insert rows via rules, so you need code... But if you have access to the SQL tables, a trigger may do what you need.

I am trying to figure out how to allow users to populate a repeating table with information and then to have them select certain rows in that table and have it populate another repeating table. The form has a database backend, so the second repeating table is from the database. So, basically I have a repeating table whereas ...

Thanks again, I was able to get the other fields working also, and have a better understanding of the functionality.

This worked great and was able to tweak your example and make it work. My question is how would you reset the child responses to null when the parent question is re-answered to "no". So the user goes in and selects "yes" displaying the child questions and answers them. Then ...

Hi! So here's your form back with some changes - hopefully some of them are right, since I'm guessing a bit. On the Form Load & the Course Code field, I have added rules to query for the right course code for the data connection that the Quotas section is bound to. Since we are only querying for those that match on course code ...
