Tried leaving the default value blank and then it doesn't poplulate the necessary field at all. If I leave the default as what the field should be without the additional rules applied then it doesn't perform the calculation in the first rule but not in the second. Any further thoughts?

I have a repeating table in one view and a repeating section in another view, that are both bound to the same data source. The repeating table has a button that will switch the view to the repeating section. Is there a way to make the second view only show the section that corresponds to the row where the button was pressed in the repeating table?

none of my views have any buttons that changes the view. The view changing bit is taken care of anohter software that is embeded in our wss.... I've been stuck on this for a long time now..

Try deleting the value in the "default value" box and just leave the two rules to set the value.  I had something like that on my form when calculating times over a 24 or under a 24 hour period.  See if that works...

That worked beautifully, thank you.  And thanks for the tip--the form is meant to be printed out and given to the people who have the authority to change the database after they approve the change, so I think it will be ok.
