Oh man, hadn't thought of that - yes, as a list form, non displayed items will be submitted. You'll need to add a workflow to remove anything where display = false, I think. I'll think on the serial number thing later today & see if I can come up with an option.

Awesome thank you so much. That works. Is there a way though to make it that no matter how many digits come after the "-" in the serial number that it will automatically use that number of digits. there are times that we may have xx-xxx and sometimes xx-xxxx. and just a quick clarification, if the sections are hidden they will not ...

It is possible - but can be a little tricky. Since you are using a repeating table bound to the secondary data source, as long as you are willing to submit one row at a time (i.e. put a Save button in the repeating table) and as long as you aren't on Office 365 (which restricts some SharePoint web service data connections) you can use ...

Thank you very much!!. I was looking for that exact solution. You are legend!!!
On a slightly different topic,
1) the data sources that I have used retrieves data from a list and displays them. Is it possible, edit the pulled data from the secondary data source so that it saves it back in the list.
2) I have a link stored in the column ...

Good day, I have a SharePoint 2013 list with over 16K list items. When the list was initially created, i had designed the form using Infopath 2013 and publishing the file was simple and fast (less than a minute) As the data got bigger, the "Quick publish" started taking more and more time. Today as i made minor modifications to the form ...

I have an InfoPath form with a repeating table, which populates a SP list (list1). All fields I'm talking about are in the repeating table (in case that matters).
One of the fields is a lookup field, which retrieves its options from another SP list (list2).
I would like to set the default value of a text field in list1 to the *display name* ...

I borrowed a template we completed a while back to start a new form and we now always receive the message below. No biggie for me and my coworker, we just say "OK" and move along. I want to unprotect a copy to send to someone. The Microsoft article ...

Attached with a new table added that will hopefully do what you need. Save locally, right click and select design, then you can preview the form. Hopefully you just need to display this data - InfoPath doesn't offer any out of the box way to copy the secondary data to the main data source - I wanted to clarify that because that was confusing ...

I had an extra paren on that formula, sorry about that. Try the attached copy. Couple of things - the button needs to be outside the repeating section to act on all instances of set value. The default data needed to have display set to false for all instances except the first.

Please find attached the form.
Thanks.
