I think something is wrong with your XPath. You might want to check out the namespaces or do something to debug. Try running this modified code:
function CTRL8_7::OnClick(eventObj)
{
var oQueryId = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode ( ''/dfs:myFields/dfs:queryFields/q:Customers/@CustomerID'' );
XDocument.UI.Alert( ''oQueryId object = '' + oQueryId + ...

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum!
This is actually a native option in InfoPath 2007, called the combobox. However, this can still be achieve in IP 2003. You will want to have one option, ''Other'' in the drop-down. Add conditional formatting so that when ''Other'' is chosen, the drop-down list is hidden and another textbox is displayed.

You could do this with custom XSL modifications if you REALLY want to remain codeless. This would also keep your data purity intact.

--unitPrice
--categoryID
Product ...

Group
--LineItem (repeating)
----CreditCard
----Amount
Your calculated field will be this:
sum( LineItem/Amount[../CreditCard = ''no''] )
To do this in the Designer,
1. double-click the field that you wish to calculate the total and click the ...

You might be able to do something kind of tricky in the OnAfterChange event of the my:grpRepeating1 node, but I don't know how easy this is going to be to work out.
The easiest solution that I can think of is to disable the InfoPath UI that allows the user to insert and remove rows and then implement your own buttons that will then maintain the ...
