Hi The form is not connected to a database but is quite large (25 views) and has 4 xml data sources. I tried disabling 'query on load' for all of the data sources and it took the same length of time to open. What about the 2 instances of Infopath in Task Manager? Gary

This is typically that you have a large number of or just large data sources that the form is loading on startup. Is this form based on a database table by chance? InfoPath will stall and run at 100% until all of the data from the data connections is loaded.

I have seen Infopth used in this specific way many times. My advice is to just start playing with Infopath, look at the inluded sample templates, etc.  There are lots of posts and blogs here too.
