That is actually the default behavior of an InfoPath form. But not to worry! It is easily fixed. First, you want to make sure that your users are submitting a form with a unique name. Otherwise, the forms will overwrite each other, or you will get an error upon submit. (You may have done this, but I didn't notice it in your scenario, so I ...

Sure -- right click the field that is bound to the drop down list and set the default value on that field to use your secondary data source that holds the drop down list info, filtered to select the correct entry for your 'Select ....' value....

In preview, yes, you'll see the path to the manifest.xsf. Save your form and open it, like a user would to fill it out.... and you should get the full path to the xsn.

Nevermind, I see how retarded it would be not to use a datasource. Is there a way to make one of the entries a default value so the drop-down keeps its "Select..." label on it?

Hi to all, i'm not sure if this is strange behavior or normal but i have my doubts....
i will present my example with steps.
1. create a browsable infopath 2007 form with one field (textbox)
2. save and publish the form to a SharePoint Form Library with name "test"
3. go to "test" ...

The solution I proposed will not work because InfoPath 2007 Form Services is not compatible with the function "position()" (or "last()" for that matter), i.e the message "Use of unsupported XPath functions, position() or last()" is encountered.
I suppose there is a way to insert a default value (ideally a ...
