    strange behavior after submit.

Hi to all, i'm not sure if this is strange behavior or  normal but i have my doubts....

i will present my example with steps.

    1. create a browsable  infopath 2007 form with one field (textbox)

    2. save and publish the form to a SharePoint Form Library  with name "test"

    3.  go to "test"  Form Library and follow the path Settings >  Advance settings > check  "Display as a Web page"

    4. go back to  your infopath form and add a new data connection for submit data  to our Form Library "test" (i set the submit option to not close the form after submit)

    5. save and publish the form to the "test" Form Library

    6. Try to create a new form, after you fill the textbox press Submit

    7. The form  will not close because i set the option to not close after submit

    /* NOW THE PROBLEM */

    8. press the link "close"

    9. it will  show a dialog to save the form........ Why??? I've all ready   submit  the form, why i have to save the form again?

As you can see i want to disable or hide the save dialog after submit my form.

This is normal? If you know anything about this problem please inform me.

    thanks, frikouflios

That is actually the default behavior of an InfoPath form. But not to worry! It is easily fixed. First, you want to make sure that your users are submitting a form with a unique name. Otherwise, the forms will overwrite each other, or you will get an error upon submit. (You may have done this, but I didn't notice it in your scenario, so I thought I would mention it.)

Next, go to Tools --> Form Options --> Open and Save. Uncheck the box next to Save and Save As.

    You're done! Hope this helps.

Hi Janice and thanks for your reply......

Well, firstly i set the submit data connection  to save the form with now() expression in the filename (for the reason that your mention before). Secondly i followed the steps that you said and the problem fixed!!!

    BUT........

if  uncheck the  Save and Save As then "Close" command from  the toolbar it will  disappear and then you cannot close the form!!  I know, i can use a button with one rule to close the form but looks better if you have the "Close" command into toolbar.

Do you know how can i  uncheck the "Save and Save As" box  and "Close" command still present into toolbar?

    Thanks for your time......

You can remove the toolbar altogether and just use buttons - one for closing the form and the other for submitting the form. Go to Tools --> Form Options --> Browser (should be the first one you see) and uncheck the boxes next to Show Toolbar on top and bottom of form. This way, the form displays just like a normal web form and your users have the options to close.

many thanks Janice, i think i will follow your solution with the 2 buttons but i still  don't understand the relation between "Save", "Save As" and "Close". Why if you uncheck the Tools --> Form Options --> Open and Save -->Save and Save As then the infopath disable the Tools --> Form Options --> Browser -->Close?

The settings reflect the options you have if you open the form in a browser as opposed to using the InfoPath Client. If you disable the Save and Save As in the client, it will be disabled even if you open the form in a browser.
