I'm not sure what you meant by the database comment, since both of my blogs are referring to SharePoint, but SharePoint _is_ a database. Why can you not do a field check from the "db," which is just the SharePoint form library? You can definitely create a data connection to receive data from your form library in order to ...

Thanks for this, but it doesn't really apply to my situation.
The number I need to ensure is unique comes from a paper document, so I can't use an "auto-number". The document number on paper IS unique, but I need to protect against a document being mistakenly entered twice. I am also NOT submitting to a database, so I ...

There is only one doc in the library, and it's status is Submitted, so that's all you'll see in the view column filter pulldown. You would see the other options in the column itself when editing the properties.
You don't change item data in the view. You change it the same way you change any column anywhere in ...

Hi Karen,
You mean SharePoint library instead of "list" right? If so, this should work without code. We do this all the time. Need more info though. To do e-mail via Forms Services, you'll want to have an optional section at the top of the form that includes the link to the form. The section should be hidden by default. ...

On this site, go to Home, and click InfoPath Resources on the right. Click references and download the SDK. The SDK contains a help file (CHM) that has the InfoPath object model. Print is a command that you can use. Have at!

Change the default SharePoint view to only show the items you want and that's all you will get. If you need everything to show in the default ShP view, you can use a Web Service to filter on the server but that requires an install on your SharePoint box. Qdabra.com provide free trials of Web Services to improve SharePoint list querying and ...

Hi Andy,
Somehow the form is not parsing the XHTML (rich text data) correctly when it opens and it fails to load as a result. We'd have to look at the form. How are you loading hte field from SharePoint? You said a SharePoint list, but that implies you are writing code to save the data and then reopen it. You'll have to be careful to use ...

Hi J,
InfoPath 2003 and InfoPath 2007 use different object models. You can't just copy snippets of code from one to the other and expect it to work. Now, your InfoPath 2003 code will work in InfoPath 2007 assuming the project is not set up to use the new object model. Of course, new projects set up to use the IP2007 OM won't work at all ...

Hi Gagan,
May have to do with the xpath axis not being correct (in other words, it doesn't get the right Ingredient). Check out Greg's blog entry on Axis: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/greg/archive/2005/06/13/Using-XPath_2700_s-_2700_preceding_2D00_sibling_2700_-Axis-Correctly.aspx
Another way to do this is to just set the field. Add ...

Hi Tracy and welcome!
Have you tried using a picture control in the form and just asking the user to manually attach the image? That's probably easiest to solve your first issue. You can do it programmatically but that will require some coding (as you know). We can provide consulting support for you if you are set on that route. But, may be ...
