Hi-
Take a look at this blog post.
http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/mel_balsamo/archive/2009/05/18/using-e-mail-forms-to-communicate-with-external-users.aspx
I think it might be exactly what you're trying to accomplish.
Good luck!

Hi,
GetGroupsForUser requires providing a username and returns a list of groups, from Active Directory.
Are you setting the username before calling GetGroupsForUser?
If you'd like to, create a simple test form and attach it via the Options tab. We can check what's going on.

I wonder if there's a problem with InfoPath on those machines. Could you try to Repair Microsoft Office and whether that solves the issue?

How is your textbox formatted?
I don't run into this issue - I'm including a screenshot of some sample formatting.

You can add the field to the form, and then just make sure that existing forms don't upgrade, by modifying the Form options.
Does this help?

Oh, you're using Office 365. That changes things, since you don't have a server (with SharePoint and SQL) that you can install DBXL on.
But don't fear, you could look at the DBXL Standalone Edition. You could install SQL Express on a local machine, and install DBXL on that machine as well. DBXL would be able to retrieve (download ...
