I think you'll need to instead promote the field from the form again so that InfoPath can create the link between the field and the library.
You can do this when you republish the form, just don't use Quick Publish.
You may be able to select your new column when you re-publish and have the field values go to it - worth a try.

Hi - your screenshot is not showing - can you try attaching it under the Options tab in a reply?
I think you'll have to use workflow for this if you are dealing with 2 separate lists - I'm not 100% sure what you are trying to do. Hopefully a screenshot will help.

Can you attach your form under the Options tab in a reply so I can see what you are doing?

You should check the conditional formatting on the repeating section with the summary and the expressions in the expression boxes.

Are you using a default value in the field instead of setting it via rules? That could cause this. Are your rules firing again when you don't expect them to? That is - you aren't just setting the field when it is blank? That could also cause this... :)

What I'm trying to say is that your drop down is set to use the ID for the value of the field. Then you have promoted the field. We would expect to see the ID in the list at this point. You may want to add another field to your form that contains the field you are using for the display in for that drop down and promote that instead.

Hmmmm. I'd use expression boxes (or calculated values) - I think if the field is blank, they won't take up any space (or you could hide them as needed). Attach your form under the Options tab if that is too general so I can see what you've got going on. :)
