you can prevent page from refreshing when the dropdown value changes.
go to the properties of the dropdown. move to the browser forms
and select never.
this will prevent the form from getting refreshed and that should resolve your problem

I am using diffrent sections to hide/show content based on conditions.. And also i am using dropdowns.. when i am selecting value from the dropdown the page refreshes and browser wont respond... its became very slow..
i am using web services to load the drop downs ...

if you make its source some secondary data connection. so that it reads from a list. you make changes to the list and they will reflect in the dropdown

try giving higher level of trust to your forms.
domain level should be enought. if that does not solve the problem, give full trust
to do so
go to tools -> form option -> security and trust
