you can read xml file and populate the values from master form to child forms. but this will require a coding. you will need to create a small utility that will basically go and read the xml of the master form and create a child form based on that

can you be a bit elaborative on what you want to do, i have created infopath form programatically, infact i prefer creating them programatically because that way i can fill the default values as i want.

You need to have the users remove the forum from their caches and reopen. close all InfoPath instances windows->start InfoPath select the form and click remove close InfoPath reopen form from SharePoint

What can i say, the lovely Hilary has come to my rescue,...that worked a treat. I was obviously over complicating the whole process, although im still trying to get my head around the whole syntax.
