You should be able to use current()/my:ID (or whatever the field is called) to reference the ID in the same row as the expression box.

In a repeating table, if I used an Expression field in the 2nd column, how would I reference the ID selected in the 1st column ?

It sounds like you should be using an Expression Box to show the description instead of a Text Box. This will save you from adding a field to your main data source to hold the value. Since your data is repeating, you'll also need to use the current() function when setting up your expression, but it sounds like you may have figured that out ...

Hi I have a newbie question , I am trying to create a solution where my users can fill in an infopath form when they are offline and it would syncronize to the sharepoint server when they are back on the network , something like offline files . Is this at all possible and if so how ?  I apreciate your answers Thanks

Yep, and that is what I am trying to do, but it will not save the changes.  I have two rules on my submit, the first looks to see if it is a new form, the second if it is just changes... but it doesn't save the changes.

there is no direct way of saving the form in browser enabled infopath 07 forms, a work around is to use submit connection to save the form. you will have to take caution in setting data validations and stuff.
