where are the check boxes, are they in some repeating table or just hanging around in the form.
a simple approach would be to create a field check_box_count

on checkbox write rules
if check box is equal to true
increment the check_box_count

Is there an easy way to count a certain number of checkboxes that has been marked, when I press a button?

can you attach the form template

Yeah, I caught that mistake right after I sent the last post.
I made the appropriate changes, but I still get the previously mentioned problem when I click the save button.
I checked for a capitalization mistake throughout the code, but I didn't find a mistake.
Do you know why the debugger suggests using the keyword "new"?

Yes. All running Infopath 2007...
I can open the correct form on the user's machine... that's no issue.. it's only when they receive the email that it attaches the xml document and not the correct form view..

a basic question, is correct infopath version installed on all the machines, especially the ones that are facing the issue

Could it be that you don't actually have a field in your data source with this path?: my:myFields/my:theAttachmentField2 Or perhaps there's a capitalization mistake somewhere (either in the way you named the field, or in that path there).

So what I meant is that I still have the problem...
I did try attaching the form.. but it still only works for some users.. not for all
