well if you change the field name of any field, you are bound to loose data.

Hi Catharine,
You can put the datafields section in an optional section that is hidden based on a field in a secondary data source (you can add a little XML file that has one value in it) and set that value when the New record button is pressed.
Hope that makes sense!

I have a client that does an "interview" where multiple questions are asked gathering information throughout the process. As each question is answered, the process may add or drop information requirements. This is an easy fit for InfoPath as I have read, however, at the end of the process, the data gathered is used to ...

In InfoPath 2003 code, it would be:
this.thisXDocument.SaveAs(@"C:\Users\Lawson\Documents\Saved Forms\" + formName);

The key is that the you need to filter the data this way:
JobName[ddl_jobno = ID]
This means that the job name shown in the text box is for the ID selected in the Main data source = the ID in the secondary data source

My dropdown list is named ddl_jobno and the value and display is set to job_no.
My textbox is named tbox_jobname
Just to clarify...when a user selects the job_no from the dropdown list ...
