You can set up your double eval so that it doesn't append the separator sequence at the end. It goes like this:
substring(xdMath:Eval(xdMath:Eval(d:tItems, 'concat(", ", @itemName)'), ".."), 3)
Once you have that, you can just use Anson's suggestion to wrap all of that in a concat to ...

I'm not sure where you found that setting that you're referring to, and I think InfoPath may not have very good support for paragraph indentation, but how about just adding a certain number of spaces at the beginning of each paragraph?

It doesn't seem that you've actually described the approach you did take, so it's hard to say how you could have done it better. :-)

How about binding both repeating tables to the same repeating group and only showing some of the columns in each table? That should allow you accomplish what you're describing.

A bit surprisingly, it seems that there just might be no way to obtain the URL of the current open document, even with code. There may have been some design decision behind that; I'm not sure.
How about a somewhat different approach: Do you have a simple SharePoint list that lists all of your projects and their status? If you ...

You can bind the section control to the same field as the checkbox. Just drag the checkbox's field in with the right mouse button and create a section with it. Then put the checkbox inside that. That should do the trick.
