Can you guys please help me with a similar problem but the scenario is different.
I am not using Submit Options to submit the form but it is done through a code. I click the OK button and then an Auto ID is generated after which,I want my form to be closed.

Have you considered submitting data using a Receive Data connection? You could write code that gets data from a Submit Data Connection too, but it might be simpler to do the Receive route. Otherwise, what you are doing makes sense. Do you really have a performance issue or is it just a performance paranoia? We do double submit and ...

You probably don't want to hear this, but designing a form from a database is not a good idea. Use a Web service. There are issues ... believe me. I'm not just trying to sell our DBXL Web service either.
Some limitations:
Can't use with browser-enabled forms when SQL on a different server
Can't use with XML data ...

I think it's either a) because the URL has changed and the forms need to be relinked (Relink is an option in WSS form libraries which you can try), or b) the XML data source changed and those old forms are no longer in compliance (in this case, you'll have to add a custom upgrade). Hopefully it's (a) and not (b), but (b) ...
