 In the Infopath form I have the batch as a resource file as well as a data connection to the batch as well as in the web service submit. where would i define the batch in the script. any suggestions

 Is it true that secondary data sources can only be bound to repeating controls, like repeating text boxes?  I would like to use a secondary data source, but I don't want or need the repeating controls, just the non-repeating ones. Thanks!

See how you are defining all your other variables -- var ID, etc? You aren't defining "batch" anywhere.

 The dropdown cannot also be a hyperlink. A hyperlink is a separate control, which you can display once the dropdown selection is made.

Looked over the Links, Not having a problem with connecting data to a dropdown. what I’m trying to do is make the data that is selected in the dropdown be a hyperlink back to the selection. 

 I'm running windows 2003 server, IIS 6 and asp.net 2.0.50727 I'm not sure what you mean by pre-exisisting content but I've had sharepoint on here for about 2 years and also a shopkeeper site running fine.  It looks like it did add a qdabrawebservice virtual directory to my sharepoint directory in IIS, but it still crashes ...

What is your OS ? Also, make sure IIS is configured to support ASP.NET and Windows Authentication. Do you have pre-existing content on your IIS site which is accessible?
