The best way is to have SQL return the data already sorted. Outside that you can write an XML sorting routine to ensure the XML table is sorted the way you like.

Attach your stripped-down form here and we can look at it.

Great! Glad to have helped.

Not that I am aware of. But sometimes when a form gets to be complex, as you described yours to be, strange things can start to occur. It takes some investigation and understanding of how InfoPath works in the background. The first thing is to narrow it down--identify the exact source of the problem. Then, if after playing with it a while, you ...

When you are setting roles based on form fields, and you want to include more than one alias, you will need to have repeating fields. Just separating by a semi-colon won't work as the role evaluator will look at the whole string as a single alias (yeah, it could be fixed, but let's work with what we got).

If the calculation is not complicated you should consider using Rules to accomplish this task.
Otherwise, there should be plenty of InfoPath VBScript examples online, but the basics of the selection are:
nodeVariable = thisXDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode(___XPATH_HERE___)
The XPATH must be fully qualified, meaning it has to have all the right ...

There are no restrictions to file attachments within the main data source. I found on a secondary data source, manually fixing up the XSL, I only had a readonly control in the view.
