thanks for your help, i'll tried that in a similar way and it works fine in another library with a personal created workflow but in that library we use the standard-moss-approval workflow . du you have another idea? i guess its not an infopath or sharepoint prob. thanks again m

If you open the properties dialog for the field the dropdown is bound to, you should be able to set up a default value there.

Hi- The function is really the same. Instead of selecting a value to translate from the main data source, just select the node from the secondary data source.
