link in mail opens client application not webbrowser

    hello there,

actually I'm sure that this is no infopath problem but I'm hoping for a fast reason from users who had the same problem :-)

we worked with xp, moss 2007, outlook 2003 and infopath 2007. our forms are browser-enabled also the library where the forms are published.

when a new task was generated by moss2007 a mail was sent to the user  from Sharepoint. Standard Task Mail with link to the Form in the library. The form opened in the webbrowser. everything worked fine.

After the deployment of Windows 7 and office 2010, the link in the Mail always open the client application of infopath 2010 and this is not desirable.

I want the link to be opened in the webbrowser. What do i have to switch in Outlook or Windows that this will work.

    Any Help?

    Thanks a lot for answers

    mark

What does the link look like? I'm wondering if there is something in the syntax that IP 2010 doesn't care for.

I have seen a similar issue before. It was workflow related for me. Here is how I fixed it:

In SharePoint Designer, open the site where your forms library resides.

    File

Inside of Workflow Designer, go through your typical steps (i.e. give it a name, etc). Be sure to check "Automatically start this workflow when a new item is created."

Inside of the Workflow Designer, under actions, select "Send an Email." This of course, will add the action "Email this message."

Click this message in the email this message box.

In the Define email box, fill in your subject, to, from, fields (usually I just have this pull AD account info, from columns CreatedBy, DirectSupervisor, depending on the type of process).

On your SharePoint page, go to the form library where you InfoPath form is stored, and ensuring it opens in-browser, click on an existing InfoPath form and copy the URL.

Copy the URL. Such as this: http://ServerName/SiteName/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/SiteName/LibraryName/Form1.xml&Source=http%3A%2F%2FServerName%2FSiteName%2FLibraryName%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1

Insert the link as a hyperlink into your email dialogue box within SharePoint Designer.

Highlight the part of the URL that comes after the XmlLocation parameter: /SiteName/LibraryName/Form1.xml

Click the add lookup to body.

The Window, "define workflow lookup" dialogue box should appear. Select Server Relative URL from the Field drop-down list box, and click okay. The link should now look like the following:

    http://ServerName/SiteName/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=[%LibraryName:Server Relative URL%]&Source=http%3A%2F%2FServerName%2FSiteName%2FLibraryName%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1

In the Define Email Workflow box click okay. In SharePoint Designer publish the workflow to the Forms library. Now when a user submits a form, it should include a direct link to the form...

Hey and thanks for your answer,

it's difficult to explain in english and i didn't find a possibility to attach a screenshot.

    i'll try to explain :-)

in that library we are working with the standard "approval"-Workflow of MOSS2007. After assinging an "approver" the person gets an e-mail with the following text

    Normal 0 21 false false false DE X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Normale Tabelle"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";}

    "

    To complete this task:

    1.     request access.

    2.     Review your task for specific details about this request.

    3.     Perform the specific activities required for this task.

Use the Edit this task button to mark the task as completed.

    "

after klicking "your task" the browser comes up and you can approve the document.

at the top of the form is a link to the document (ewrr20110815 for example)

this link indicates to a  ewrr20110815.xml

and if you click on the link the infopath-client comes up

when i remove the infopath client or switch the standardprogramm for xml from infopath to internet expolrer the plain xml is shown in the browser

    thanks again

    thanks for your help,

i'll tried that in a similar way and it works fine in another library with a personal created workflow

but in that library we use the standard-moss-approval workflow . du you have another idea?

i guess its not an infopath or sharepoint prob.

    thanks again
