I'm starting to get a handle on the problem, and it took building a new list to do so. But I still don't get what's going on.
Somehow SharePoint (or InfoPath, or both) is not letting go of old, obsolete error situations.
For instance, in the original problem, even after I deleted everything that could have caused the problem, ...

This one is weird...
I have a "person/group" column in SharePoint 2010 that allows selection of multiple people and is set to optional. When I use the Customize Form button in SharePoint to create an InfoPath input form, InfoPath wants to make that field required. I can uncheck the required box in the field's properties or the ...

Ernesto,
/my:funding/my:qdxtp_historicalFunding/my:Content/my:historicalFunding[my:amount != ""] did not work. It prevented all child records from being created (when the user later updates the form and enters in child records).

I think you are right about your issue - every time your formula executes, it will get the current value for "now()". That means the name will change all the time. I'd add a field to the form for the form name and, when the form is first opened, have a loading rule to set it to a concatenation of Near Miss and now. Only set the ...

I see that the node path for the table is
/my:funding/my:qdxtp_historicalFunding/my:Content/my:historicalFunding
In that case, the manual modification would be
/my:funding/my:qdxtp_historicalFunding/my:Content/my:historicalFunding[my:amount != ""]
Can you try that?

You could drag the entire secondary data source to the canvas, and then take a look in the browser. Basically, you want to see whether the data connection is returning data correctly in the browser. If it is, then seeing that data will allow you to visually confirm whether the filtering values are correct.
You can add attachments or ...

That fixed it, thanks! (In one of my other attempts, I actually did try appending "T00:00:00" to the generated value, but that didn't work...)

Hi,
This message is being returned by SharePoint's IPFS, not by the InfoPath form itself. I don't think you can modify these since they are built in to SharePoint.

Hi-
In order for InfoPath to open an form (XML) is needs a form template (XSN). It sounds like you're emailing the XML but the user's dont have the XSN, is that correct?
Would this blog post help in your scenario?
