The problem I'm running into is that InfoPath expects the text box I want to store the value in to be associated with the database "Hours" field. Using the templated Database form, I can't store the value in a text box for each repeating line. Does that make sense?

Hi-
Save and Submit are different operations, so let's clarify.
Save allows the user to enter a filename.
Submit executes a data connection to perform the submit operation, and this includes a pre-defined filename.
You can dynamically generate a filename via rules in your form. Your form can also have many different submit data ...

I'm sorry, Jean Carlo, I don't understand the question.
Have you had a chance to look thru the Getting Started tutorial for DBXL? Are the steps not working in your form or environment?
If you have already purchased a DBXL license you can contact us via support at qdabra dot com. Thank you.
