Hilary, you are so kind. I tried what you said and it says "Expected value type: end-of-string"
This is so frustrating. I've researched so much on the internet, in archives and nothing seems to help.

Thanks for the explanation Lindsay. I didn't know about the colons, so that's really helpful info.
For the date, I'm trying to output 8 digits every time. The current formula returns 2013318 and I'd like it to return 20130318. How do I go about getting the month and date to reliably put out 2 digits (01, 02, 03)?

I think you should use the field picker to select fldQPRev. Then check the little checkbox in the formula editor for Edit XPath. Then type in [last()] next to the repeating group- RevGroup. That may be the most straightforward approach.

Unfortunately InfoPath won't let you create a button with a rule to insert rows in a repeating table, so you'd have to write some code to get this to work. Here's a link to one of Jimmy's blog posts on programmatically adding rows to repeating tables: ...

Thanks so much, Hilary, for your suggestion. I appreciate it so much.
I entered my:RevGroup[last()]/my:fldQPRev and received the verification error message:
"my:RevGroup/my:fldQPRev" does not point to a valid location path of a field or group

Well - your expression with the spaces around the "/" is division - which explains the NaN error.
Try using the compete XPath - you are probably using the default "my" namespace, so it would look like:
my:RevGroup[last()]/my:fldQPRev

Hi Evy,
You can access list data inside InfoPath by setting up a secondary data connection and then querying the data connection to import specific data from the list. Here is a link to instructions on how to query a SharePoint list and import data into ...

Hi Joe,
Are you submitting your forms to a SharePoint form library? If so, then you can edit them by clicking on the form in the SharePoint library to re-open it. Whatever changes you make should be captured when you re-submit the form.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'reroute' though, could you elaborate?

Hi Kei,
The problem is that the 6 digits that represent time in the now() function are separated by colons, so using substring(now(), 10, 6) returns some digits and some colons. The number() function doesn't know what to do with the colons, so it returns NaN.
Here is the correct ...

Ironically, I found a document that clearly shows how to write the Function statement in my field. Using the data above it would be:
RevGroup[last()]/fldQPRev
Unfortuantely, it will not accept this statement. It wants you to write RevGroup[last()] / fldQPRev and then it will accept it.
So then, when I get it to accept the ...
