The refresh command should update your XML with the latest from the SharePoint list - I'm obviously not explaining well what I'm trying to find out. Deleting is part of "refresh" - when the refresh command executes, we store a list of the current IDs for list items in the XML - then the next time you Submit, we can find out ...

I am assuming the refresh is working becuase if I change one of the repeating table items, the list gets updated. I am not getting anything back in the result node when the form loades or after I delete the item from the repeating table. The items list is definetly getting updated when I update the repeating table, I have checked many ...

It sounds like you need to write the data to a SharePoint list (since it's repeating).
Here's one article on this website:

Another option would be to use qRules. There's a free trial on Qdabra.com and a walkthru ...

Hi-
It sounds like you can just a rule.
When the value of a field changes, the rule will Set a field's value.
Have you tried this? I don't believe code is necessary in your scenario.

I just tried using the same formula on a repeating section but it's not working. Is there another approach to a repeating section for this? Thanks again.

So ../@NAME is a relative XPath. We are at CONTACTPERSON - so ../ takes us back to COMPANY, and @NAME gets us the company name attribute - @NAME is an attribute on COMPANY. Here's a blog post of mine with some links to learning XPath resources. I think what you are calling self containing tags are attributes. In the sample above, Player ...

Thank you Hilary! That worked :)
Yes, a zip file... Brain is too focused on Infopath right now.
So, the ../@NAME is referencing the path to the parent node? I just want to get this clear in my head so I can to the other similar forms. Does it matter how the XML is formatted in terms of attributes or elements? I have seen a lot of examples using, ...

Yup - you can always put files in a zip and attach that as well.
So - put a rule on Company - no condition - to set a field's value. The field you are going to set is the main data source field for the contact person.
The XPath to get the right contact name should ...
