I'd guess you could use a default with preceding-sibling here - see attached sample. Save the file locally, right click and select design. Preview, fill out the first column in the repeating table, insert more rows. Note that this is NOT a list form tho - sometimes those behave differently from "normal" InfoPath forms.

Can you provide more of your script? I'd be happy to see if the issue repros on my Windows 10 machine & see if I can help you troubleshoot it. :)

So, first, if you are submitting repeating data, you want to use the repeating group (your mapping named mapping_EditModel_Split1.xml is correct). You've indicated the ID field in the mapping, so don't use it in your command. Your command would be something like: SubmitToSharePointList /submit=Submit /mapping=mapping_EditModel_Split1 ...

The calculated value field should not have to be there for the text field to be populated. I've never run into that before.

Can you attach your mapping.xml file?

Try this one. Save locally, right click and select design to preview - First Name won't get set because of the user name differences, but you can at least see the results of the user name function and the substring-after function. I also added some row highlighting - do any rows highlight in preview? Publish, open in the browser. Do any rows ...

Drag the list data fields onto your form. Don't filter it. Publish your form. Open your form in the browser. Can you send a screenshot of that data?

I don't believe what you are trying to do is possible. It would require code, which you can't use in list forms. Multi-selects are special - the field is repeating (if you put your Fields task pane in advanced view, you'll see what I mean).

So the substring-after formula results in "etipton". The list has "etipton". Both are all lower case? In the browser, if you put a calculated value on your form with the substring after formula, you get "etipton"? If you put the list data fields on your form, you see "etipton"? Can you post a screenshot?

I'm sorry I'm having so much trouble understanding the issue you are having. Perhaps this will help you - put the data fields from your list on the form. Add a formatting rule for what you think should select the right row (i.e. - username = substring-after, etc). Add another for the preview version. Then you can make sure the right row is ...
