Adding rows to repeating group requires code (or qRules) or you may be able to use default data if you have an idea of the max number of rows you'll need. InfoPath doesn't have an out of the box way to add rows to a repeating group, which is what you'd need here, right?

Try this one - you'll see I changed the filter to use current to get the current outer group. :) Save the file locally, right click & select design, then preview.

So - here's the thing. InfoPath is only going to save data in the main data source. So if you need to save the checked items, you'll have to copy the data into the main data source .... and InfoPath doesn't offer a good way to do that out of the box. And when you say checking something opens another repeating table - I'm guessing ...

I might use an XSLT and the transform command. You could also use Insert to insert the rows to your table based on the quantities, then add rules to the repeating group to set it's values... you'd probably need some logic around counting how many preceding siblings are in place vs. how many of the particular item were requested, or you ...

Unfortunately, not out of the box. You'll need to use code or qRules. Here's a link to some sample code. http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/4-way-programmatically-add-row-repeating-table.htm

The rules in your form will only run when the field the rule is on is changed - so even just re-opening the existing forms will only execute the rule if the field with the rule changes when the form is opened. There is no out of the box way to update these. I often copy XMLs locally and use PowerShell to apply an XSLT, then copy the forms back ...

Can you attach a copy of the template to a reply under the options tab? I can try to take a look tomorrow.

Here's a link that may help: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/filter-the-data-that-is-displayed-in-a-control-7c9471ed-46e6-40fc-93b6-8f25e5fa4deb

Wonderful news! So you know - the reason a very simple rule works here is because both lookups come from the same list. If they did not, you'd need to use an XPath filter.

Actually, the first one also now includes the School Email - I'm not sure why you couldn't edit it? At any rate, give this a try. Save it locally, right click and select Design to open in design mode, then preview and see if my rule on the schools field works - I believe that in a case like this, where you have multiple lookups on the same ...
